Why would someone want a car that is named after a long, treacherous journey?

To discover new adventures! Also, why would you want a car that can only do short journeys.

Every journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. Journeys of a single step do not start with a thousand miles. If a car can only do short journeys, you can do several short journeys in a row, whereas if it can only do long journeys, you usually won't get where you want to go.
