Does American culture place too much emphasis on productivity?

In the United States, it seems that people are expected to put most of their focus on their careers. A career is not just a way of making money to live on.

I don’t think productivity is a bad thing at all. Being work obsessed is not wise, but making the most out of every minute in this world should be valued. Also, hi!
